It is always sad when someone dies.

Screenshots from Fox 9 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNnVbXPCEDU
Total elapsed time = 4.5 seconds
This is my analysis based on what I can see in the photos and video.

  • The Honda Pilot is in reverse, backing out of the street where it had been blocking traffic.
  • There is an officer at the drivers door,
  • There is a second officer IN FRONT OF the car (yellow box).
  • There is a protester concealed from view at the passenger door
  • The Honda Pilot is no longer in reverse
  • The wheels are now pointed directly at the officer in front, who is reaching for but has not yet drawn his weapon
  • The driver-side officer has his left arm through the window, right hand on door handle
  • The Honda Pilot lurches into gear while the officer at the driver door has his arm inside the car.
  • The officer in front of the oncoming car is now drawing his weapon.
  • The protester at the passenger side is evading the new path of the car.
  • It is reasonable to assume, in the absence of direct testimony (so far), that the officer in front of the car saw his partner’s arm in the drivers window
  • The Honda accelerates with wheels turning right
  • The officer at the driver door is still holding the door handle of the car.
  • The officer in front of the oncoming car is now pointing his weapon at the driver.
  • The protester at the passenger side has successfully evaded the new path of the car.
  • The Honda accelerates with wheels turning right
  • The officer at the driver door has let go of the door handle to avoid getting dragged.
  • The officer who was in front has now dodged to the side of the car is pointing his weapon at the driver.
  • From a different news source
  • The bullet hole is in the front windshield
  • This would indicate the Honda was aimed at the officer and that his life was at risk
  • Additional Information on the office who fired his weapon

  • That officer had been previously dragged by a car during an arrest
  • His injuries required 30 stitches and months of recovery
  • (personal opinion)The officer could reasonably fear for his his life, and the life of his fellow officer at the driver door, based on his personal experience 7 months ago
  • Additional bodycam footage of officer involved in shooting released 2026-01-09

  • The officer-involved walked around the car
  • He hears another officer order the driver out of the car
  • He turns back to assist and walks in front of car
  • Protester at passenger door yells “Drive, baby drive”
  • Honda driver accelerates, hitting officer
  • Honda driver shot
